Museum & Gallery Lighting by Universal Fibre Optics

Light tubes provide a versatile method to give a general wash of light and can be either hidden from view or finished to become an integral part of the display case.

Available in 3 diameters, they consist of an aluminium tube which holds end emitting fibre at close spacings to give an even light. The points of light can be staggered if required to give light coverage to a wider area.

Light tubes can be custom painted in-house and are made to order at the sizes specified.

Light Tubes can be supplied as a straight tube with the fibre tails emerging from one or both ends, or can be manufactured as part of a gantry system.

End caps are also available and are fitted to the opposite end from where the fibre emerges. These provide a neat finish when the end of the tube is visible after installation.

Light Tube Overview

The UFO light bar systems have a flat front to allow the mounting of of the UFO 34D mini trumpet fitting.

Light bars are available in 5 diameters and, as each system is made to order, the fittings and optionally interspersed points of light can be placed at any desired intervals to suit what is being illuminated.

The UFO 34D fittings generally act as spotlights and can be focused independently of each other. If a general wash is also required, light points can be interspersed between the trumpets.

We can custom paint light bars to any desired RAL colour to match the surrounding display case.

Fittings suitable for use with light bars and extrusions.

This range of focusable downlight fittings are especially designed for use the either our light bar or cabinet extrusion systems.

The tiny 34DA and 34DB fittings are primarily for use with all sizes of our light bar range, however they also fit well into the CX4 extrusion.

The larger 14DB fitting, which is secured through the extrusion surface with a threaded ring is suitable for use with the CX1, CX2 and CX3 extrusions.

All fittings can be powdercoated in any RAL colour to suit specific applications.

Light Bar Overview

Light wands are a compact version of the light tubes. Available in standard 20mm and mini 14mm versions, they provide the ultimate in discrete linear lighting washes.

The light wands use polymer fibre at very close spacings to provide a very even light output. They are ideally suited to illuminating objects in small display cases or to light pictures or information panels.

Light wands are supplied as standard in either black or an anodised silver finish, but as with all our components we can colour to your specifications.

Light Wand Overview

Cabinet mounting extrusions allow the use of conventional recessed downlight type fittings in situations where it is only possible to surface mount.

The extrusion forms a conduit which conceals the fibres until they can be exited from the end. We normally supply the harness pre-fitted to the extrusion or we can supply the extrusion on its own.

As detailed below, there are five sizes of extrusion available, from the largest CX1 to the smallest CX5

The CX5 is unique in that it is not used as a mounting for downlights. Instead, it is similar to our light tubes where fibre optic tails are fitted internally which shine through small holes in the extrusion's surface.
